Wallpaper - Second Beach

Our Second Beach wallpaper brings a dramatic coastal sunset into the home, captured by photographer Dan Merkel. The panoramic composition centres on rugged sea stacks and silhouettes of evergreen trees rising against a glowing sky of amber, rose, and violet clouds. Below, receding ocean tides leave glossy wet sand that mirrors the warm sunlight, creating a balanced interplay between deep, shadowy rock formations and luminous reflections. Like all Wallism mural wallpapers, this design is made to measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

Because of its expansive landscape orientation and strong focal elements, we see this wall mural working especially well on a wide, uninterrupted feature wall. In a living room or primary bedroom, placing it behind a low-profile sofa or headboard allows the dramatic horizon line and rock formations to remain fully visible across the room. The horizontal sweep of the tide also makes it a striking choice for a quiet study, home office, or guest room, where the tranquil atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest shoreline adds depth without overwhelming the space. In rooms with generous natural daylight, the warm amber glow in the sky feels vivid during the day, while softer evening lighting enhances the deeper violet and navy tones in the water and silhouettes.

Styling it

To let the rich coastal scenery stand out, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture clean and grounded. Low-slung silhouettes in darker wood finishes, such as walnut or smoked ash, complement the deep rock silhouettes and keep sightlines across the artwork open. When choosing upholstery and larger textiles, simple woven fabrics in slate grey, sand, or muted mauve echo the natural palette of the beach without competing for attention.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper ranges from luminous amber and dusty rose in the sunset to deep navy, charcoal, and twilight purple in the tide pools and sea stacks. For adjacent painted walls, we recommend soft taupe, pale sand, or muted grey-blue to create a smooth transition from the mural. If you prefer deeper contrast, a rich charcoal or dark navy on surrounding trim or architectural details will pick up the darkest areas of the rock formations and frame the landscape beautifully.
