Wallpaper - Grant and his Generals

Our Grant and his Generals wallpaper depicts a 19th-century gathering of military officers in navy blue Union uniforms accented with gold buttons, gathered around a central table to study a map. The wide, figurative composition captures a historic group portrait with detailed period uniforms, varied facial expressions, and warm, earthy background tones. As one of our classic wall murals, it brings narrative depth and authentic historical character to a room while establishing a strong visual anchor. Our wallpapers are made-to-measure according to your wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because the composition depicts a wide figurative scene with numerous figures spread across the horizontal plane, we recommend placing this design on a generous, relatively uninterrupted wall. It works particularly well across the main wall of a home library, study, or living room, where the entire group of officers remains in full view. Giving the mural wallpapers room across a wide surface prevents taller furniture from cutting across the central map table and key figures, allowing the full narrative to unfold naturally.

Styling it

To balance the detailed figurative artwork, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture clean in profile and rich in tone. Darker wood tones such as walnut or deep mahogany complement the 19th-century character of the scene, while deep navy, charcoal, or muted leather upholstery echoes the uniforms without competing for attention.

Colour combinations

The palette is built on rich navy blue and warm, earthy background tones, highlighted with small notes of muted gold and off-white. When choosing wall colours for adjacent surfaces, warm parchment, antique white, or soft ochre echo the lighter elements in the scene. For a moodier, enveloping feel, deep navy or slate blue will draw out the uniform tones and tie the whole room together.
