Wallpaper - Birthday Celebration

Created by artist Jeanette Vertentes, our Birthday Celebration wallpaper brings an expressive, painterly floral still life to life on a large scale. A vibrant bouquet of blooming peonies and garden flowers sits in a glass jar, captured with thick, visible brushstrokes and palette knife marks that give the motif a rich, painted visual texture. The composition bursts with vivid coral, deep magenta, warm orange, violet, and soft periwinkle against a softly textured pastel backdrop. Produced as made-to-measure mural wallpapers on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our design delivers bold, artistic energy to any focal wall.

In the room

Because of its expressive scale and painterly presence, we see this wall mural working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall in a dining room or living room. Placing the design behind a dining table or behind a low sofa allows the full floral arrangement and glass vase motif to be appreciated without interruption. In a living room setting, the confident brushwork and lively floral composition naturally anchor the seating area. The artwork benefits from a wall with sufficient breathing room, letting the bold strokes and layered colors create a true gallery-like focal point.

Styling it

To let the dynamic energy of this floral artwork lead the room, we would keep the surrounding furniture relatively grounded and clean-lined. Mid-century modern or contemporary silhouettes with smooth surfaces provide a lovely counterpoint to the thick, impasto-like texture of the painting.

When choosing materials, warm natural wood such as walnut or mid-toned oak pairs beautifully with the rich coral, magenta, and amber tones in the petals. Soft, neutral upholstery in oatmeal or cream allows the colorful blooms to remain the hero of the interior, while ceramic accents or clean glass pieces echo the artistic, studio-inspired character of the motif.

Colour combinations

Our wallpaper features a vivid palette centered around saturated magenta, rich coral, marigold orange, deep purple, and sky blue, balanced by soft lilac, pale celadon, and muted grey tones in the background.

When decorating around this design, we suggest drawing out one of the softer background shades, like a muted dove grey or gentle chalk white, for adjacent walls and baseboards. If you want a more eclectic, layered feel, pulling the deep plum or warm terracotta into upholstery cushions, table linens, or accent chairs creates an intentional and cohesive color story throughout the space.
