Wallpaper - Seaside Fish Dark Blue

Designed by Anne Tavoletti, our Seaside Fish Dark Blue wallpaper pairs a clean, deep teal-blue backdrop with rows of white fish rendered in a relaxed, painterly hand. The repeating fish silhouettes feature soft, crayon-like brush marks and simple round eyes, swimming horizontally across the wall in an alternating rhythm. What we particularly like about this design is how its graphic two-tone contrast stays approachable and lighthearted through its hand-drawn visual texture. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

The neat horizontal cadence makes our wallpaper an easy way to bring movement and character into a space without overwhelming it. In a powder room, bathroom, or summer house entryway, wrapping all four walls creates an immersive, playful coastal feel. In a larger living room or open family space, we like using it on a single accent wall behind a low sofa or credenza, where the uninterrupted horizontal pattern can establish a clear visual rhythm across the room. Because the motif relies on a two-colour palette, it also works remarkably well in compact spaces like a small cloakroom or reading nook, bringing visual interest without feeling busy.

Styling it

To complement the nautical, slightly rustic spirit of the fish motif, we suggest pairing this design with simple, grounded furnishings:

• Introduce warm, natural wood finishes like weathered pine, light oak, or rattan to soften the crisp blue-and-white contrast and enhance the coastal mood.
• Choose painted furniture in muted off-white, chalky cream, or sand tones to echo the hand-drawn white linework of the pattern.
• Opt for understated, textural accents such as woven jute, unbleached linen, or matte ceramic pieces that keep the focus on the wallpaper's graphic character.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on two primary shades: a rich, oceanic teal-blue base and soft off-white linework. When selecting surrounding wall paint, trim, or cabinetry, warm whites and soft limestone neutrals create a crisp, classic pairing that highlights the deep background. If you want to lean further into a coastal or Mediterranean palette, accents in sandy beige, terracotta, or sun-faded ochre provide a natural, warm counterpoint to the cool blue tones. For a more subtle and continuous scheme, pairing adjacent surfaces with slate blue, navy, or deep sea-green allows the white fish motif to stand out as a clean focal point.
