Wallpaper - Playful Vase IV

Created by Cheryl Warrick, our Playful Vase IV wallpaper brings a bold, graphic still life to the wall with striking color contrast and folk-inspired charm. The composition centers on a rounded turquoise vase filled with arching stems, leafy greens, and stylized circular blooms, resting on a warm orange striped tabletop against a deep midnight blue backdrop. Printed to order as a made-to-measure, PVC-free mural, this design makes an expressive focal point that celebrates clean shapes, painterly textures, and joyful color balance.

In the room

Because of its centered, illustrative composition, we see this design working exceptionally well as an accent wall in a dining room, living area, or creative home office. The large-scale vase motif naturally anchors a room, making it an ideal backdrop behind a dining table, a low sideboard, or a reading corner where the artwork remains clearly in view.

On a wider uninterrupted wall, the deep blue field provides a grounding presence while the turquoise and orange tones bring cheerful energy into the space. In a compact dining nook or an entryway, the bold scale creates an inviting sense of character without feeling cluttered, especially when surrounding walls are kept relatively quiet to let the central motif lead the visual story.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we recommend balancing its graphic clarity with simple furniture forms and warm, inviting finishes. Mid-century silhouettes or contemporary painted furniture work particularly well here, echoing the clean lines of the tabletop and vase without competing for attention.

To let the artwork stand out, we would choose plain upholstery and simple textiles in natural linen or muted cream tones. Warm wood accents, such as a honey-toned dining table or a light walnut credenza, complement the terracotta-orange stripes in the foreground, while small ceramic decorative pieces can subtly pick up on the still-life theme.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper revolves around the vibrant interplay between the deep navy background, bright turquoise ceramic tones, and the warm orange table. Fresh leaf-green details soften the contrast and add botanical warmth throughout the arrangement.

For adjoining walls and woodwork, we like pairing this mural with soft off-whites, warm creams, or muted sand shades that allow the deep navy background to pop. If you want a more cocooning interior, bringing the dark navy or a rich teal onto adjacent trim and baseboards creates a sophisticated, cohesive look. Accents in burnt orange, ochre, or olive green in cushions and decorative bowls will tie the surrounding decor directly back into the artwork.
