Wallpaper - Shinjuku Nights

Our Shinjuku Nights wallpaper captures the electric movement of Tokyo after dark in a photographic cityscape by Jan Becke. At the centre of the composition, a prominent red arch sign illuminated with glowing Japanese characters anchors the view, surrounded by a vivid array of neon billboards in bright yellow, electric blue, and crisp white. The deep perspective of the street pulls the eye inward, framed by the rich cherry red glow of city nightlife. Produced as custom made-to-measure mural wallpapers, this design is printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure, making it straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of its deep linear perspective and high visual contrast, we see this design working best on an open, relatively uninterrupted feature wall. Placing it along the main sightline in a teenage room or a creative art studio creates an expansive sense of depth, drawing attention directly down the luminous street.

The vertical reach of the buildings and illuminated signage naturally suits rooms with standard or higher ceilings where the full height of the urban architecture can unfold. While the dense visual rhythm could feel overwhelming if wrapped across every wall, letting it command a single focal surface gives the surrounding space an energetic, modern atmosphere without crowding the room.

Styling it

To balance the visual density and bold neon lights of the photograph, we recommend keeping surrounding furniture clean-lined and contemporary. Minimalist furniture shapes with low profiles prevent visual clutter and keep the dramatic central perspective open.

• Choose streamlined low-slung furniture in matte black or deep charcoal to ground the room and echo the dark asphalt and evening shadows of the street.
• Introduce accent pieces with subtle industrial materials, such as slender powder-coated metal framing or cool concrete surfaces, reflecting the urban setting of the motif.
• Keep surrounding textiles quiet and unpatterned, allowing the intense energy of the wall mural to remain the focal point of the interior.

Colour combinations

The palette is defined by the deep cherry red of the archway alongside brilliant hits of neon yellow, vivid blue, and stark white against dark night tones.

Around the wallpaper, we suggest pairing adjacent walls with soft off-white, cool slate, or muted graphite. These neutral foundations allow the glowing reds and yellows to stand out sharply. For smaller decor accents, picking up small touches of cobalt blue or warm amber in cushions or desk accessories will tie the rest of the room into the vibrant street scene without competing with the main wall.
