Wallpaper - Fun Sardines II

Our Fun Sardines II wallpaper by Becky Thorns brings graphic character and coastal charm to the wall with a playful block-print-inspired tin of sardines set against bold, hand-drawn blue stripes. The composition combines flat illustrative shapes, bold outlines, and a distinct retro pop art aesthetic from the 1960s, creating an eye-catching focal point full of personality. We make all our wallpapers to measure based on your specific wall dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that feels natural in any home.

In the room

In a kitchen, dining room, or pantry, this wallpaper brings a lively visual energy that instantly enlivens food and gathering spaces. The graphic stripes and centered tin motif make it a natural choice for an accent wall behind a dining nook, a breakfast banquette, or along an open pantry wall. It also works wonderfully in smaller, self-contained spaces such as a powder room or bathroom, where the bold scale and playful motif can wrap the entire room without overwhelming larger living areas. For a summer house or holiday retreat, the coastal theme adds an easygoing, sunny character to informal dining corners and compact entry spaces.

Styling it

Because the pattern has strong graphic presence and bright retro character, we like balancing it with clean, simple furniture shapes.

• Pair the blue stripes with natural wood furniture, such as light ash or warm pine, to ground the bright tones and enhance the coastal, relaxed feel.
• Keep cabinetry and surrounding joinery understated with flat fronts or simple shaker profiles in off-white, soft cream, or muted navy.
• Incorporate simple ceramic tableware, woven baskets, or unlacquered metal hardware to echo the artisan, block-print quality of the artwork.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is defined by its crisp blue and white vertical stripes, contrasted by the popping tones of the sardine tin. To complement the motif, we suggest pairing it with clean off-white or soft linen tones on adjacent walls and trim. If you prefer a richer palette, deep navy or cobalt blue on lower wall panelling or kitchen base units creates a striking, cohesive foundation. Warm ochre, mustard, or soft terracotta accents in surrounding accessories will also pick up the warmer details inside the sardine tin illustration.
