Wallpaper - Faded Memories of Old

Our Faded Memories of Old wallpaper by Krystal Adams brings the gentle, weathered character of a nineteenth-century oil painting to the wall. The design features a rural landscape with an aged building covered in green leaves beneath a soft, light blue sky, rendered in muted tones with painted visual texture. We produce this design as a made-to-measure, PVC-free wallpaper with a subtle physical structure in the paper, making it easy to hang while bringing quiet scenic depth to your room.

In the room

Because this scenic motif carries the compositional balance of an oil landscape, we like seeing it on a wider, uninterrupted wall where the full countryside view and architectural details have space to unfold. In a living room or primary bedroom, placing it behind a sofa or low headboard anchors the room without cutting across the tree line and open sky. The restrained contrast and light palette also work well in a dining room, home office, or quiet study, offering visual interest that remains calm across larger surface areas. For entryways and staircases, the rural scene adds depth as you move past, giving transitional spaces an inviting, established feel.

Styling it

The historic, painterly mood of our design sits comfortably alongside heritage, French country, and rustic cottage interiors. We recommend choosing furniture with simple silhouettes and gentle age, such as warm wood dining tables or painted vintage cabinets, to echo the pastoral subject matter without overwhelming the scene.

To keep the balance natural, you can introduce softly textured upholstery in neutral weaves or light drapery around adjacent windows. Keeping surrounding decor uncrowded allows the painted brushwork and delicate foliage on the building to remain the primary visual focus in the space.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper is anchored by pale, light sky blues, soft foliage greens, and gentle weathered neutrals across the building facade. To build a cohesive room around it, we suggest pulling from these subtle tones for surrounding woodwork, doors, and trim. Soft antique whites, chalky bone tones, or muted stone shades on adjacent walls highlight the light background of the mural. If you prefer deeper grounding accents, muted olive green or dusky blue in furniture upholstery or painted cabinetry connects directly back to the landscape.
