Wallpaper - Butterfly Postcard

Our Butterfly Postcard wallpaper brings together vintage postcard ephemera, French cursive script, and delicate botanical illustration. Designed by Deborah Revell, the composition centres on a detailed butterfly with sunshine yellow and warm brown wings perched upon bright red floral blooms, framed against an off-white, aged paper ground with postal marks and a red stamp. The print-inspired aesthetic and 19th-century styling give the design an authentic, nostalgic character. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our wall murals are easy to hang and make a distinctive statement on any wall.

In the room

We see our Butterfly Postcard design working especially well as an accent wall in a living room, home library, or dedicated study. Because the motif includes fine script, postmarks, and delicate wing details, we recommend giving this mural wallpaper an open wall where the central illustration can be appreciated up close without being heavily obscured by tall bookcases or bulky furniture. The warm yellow and earthy tones bring a relaxed, inviting mood to seating areas, making it a natural backdrop behind a low sofa, a reading chair, or alongside built-in shelving.

Styling it

To complement the 19th-century feel and English country influences in the artwork, we would pair this wallpaper with traditional or vintage-inspired interior elements. Warm wood tones, such as mid-toned oak, fruitwood, or antique pine, sit naturally against the aged paper backdrop and earthy accents in the print. Surrounding the wall with simple upholstered seating in warm neutrals or muted earthy fabrics allows the red florals and yellow butterfly wings to provide the primary colour accents in the room.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper features sunshine yellow, warm brown, and vibrant red, grounded by an off-white background and soft sepia script. For adjoining walls and woodwork, warm off-whites, muted creams, and soft parchment tones echo the paper ground without competing with the illustration. If you want to draw out the deeper tones of the motif, muted ochre, gentle terracotta, or warm earthy browns on adjacent walls, cabinetry, or trim work harmoniously with the vintage character of the design.
