Wallpaper - Nantucket Afternoon

Our Nantucket Afternoon wallpaper, designed by Kathy Ferguson, brings together horizontal bands of collage-inspired artwork with a rich mix of painted textures, gestural line drawings, and graphic patterns. Soft lavender and lilac tones set an open, airy foundation, accented by bold stripes in vivid magenta, deep ink blue, and gentle sea-green details. The layered, mixed-media composition creates horizontal movement across the wall while offering plenty of fine detail to discover up close. Printed to order as a made-to-measure design, this PVC-free wallpaper has a subtle physical structure in the paper and is straightforward to hang.

In the room

We love how the horizontal collage structure of this design naturally guides the eye across the space, making it a great focal point on a feature wall in a living room, bedroom, or home office. In a living room, placing it behind a sofa or along a primary open wall gives the varied collage layers room to breathe without competing with tall furniture. In a bedroom, it works wonderfully behind a low headboard where the gentle lavenders and soft pastels create a calm, layered backdrop. The design also adds an artful touch to a creative study or reading nook, where the interplay of sketch lines and painterly collage strips can be appreciated up close.

Styling it

Because this design contains a vibrant mix of patterns and painted segments, we suggest pairing it with furniture that has clean, understated lines to keep the room balanced.

• Choose furniture in light natural wood or neutral painted finishes to let the artwork's colors and collage details take center stage.
• Keep surrounding upholstery and large soft furnishings relatively quiet, opting for solid neutrals or gentle textures rather than bold prints.
• Echo the wallpaper's rich palette by introducing small decorative touches, such as a deep indigo throw or a vibrant magenta cushion, without overloading the room.

Colour combinations

The design is built on a palette of soft lavender, lilac, crisp white, deep navy blue, teal, and pops of vivid magenta and raspberry. When painting adjacent walls or choosing larger room accents, we recommend soft off-whites, pale lavender-grays, or muted cream tones to keep the atmosphere light and harmonious. If you want to introduce more depth, pulling from the wallpaper's navy blue for cabinetry, an accent chair, or shelving adds a grounded, sophisticated contrast that complements the playful collage stripes.
