Wallpaper - Northampton England Skyline Purple & Gold

Our Northampton England Skyline Purple & Gold wallpaper by Michael Tompsett brings an expressive architectural silhouette to life through rich painterly tones. Set against a crisp, clean background, the skyline features prominent landmarks depicted in a watercolour-inspired blend of deep purple, dark mulberry, and warm ochre-gold splatters. The horizontal layout balances crisp building outlines with loose, dripping paint textures along the base, creating a dynamic visual rhythm. Made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical paper structure, this mural wallpaper turns a modern urban landscape into a distinctive focal point.

In the room

In a living room or a dedicated home office, we see this design working particularly well on a wide, uninterrupted accent wall where the full horizontal span of the skyline can unfold naturally. Because the lower half of the design carries the weight of the dark mulberry and gold watercolor splatters while the upper portion remains open and white, it helps maintain a feeling of vertical openness in rooms with standard ceiling heights. Positioning a low-profile desk or a sofa beneath the artwork allows the distinct silhouettes of the spires, towers, and modern structures to remain fully visible and uncluttered.

Styling it

We suggest balancing the expressive splatter effect of the motif with understated contemporary furnishings that share its architectural precision.

• Choose furniture with clean, graphic profiles in matte black metal or warm brass to echo the silhouette lines and golden tones in the print.
• Pair the wall with dark wood furniture or neutral upholstery to ground the space without competing with the dynamic artwork.
• Keep surrounding accessories minimal, opting for streamlined table lamps and simple framing elements that let the mural act as the primary visual anchor.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper centres on an expressive palette of deep purple, dark mulberry, and warm earthy gold set against a clean white background. Around the mural, adjacent walls painted in soft off-white, warm cream, or very pale stone provide a calm backdrop that allows the richer tones to stand out. If you want to create a moodier atmosphere, pull out the deep plum or dark mulberry tones for trim, shelving, or accent cushions, while subtle brass or warm ochre accents in lighting hardware will naturally tie back into the gold elements of the artwork.
