Wallpaper - Cedar Rapids Iowa Skyline Concrete

Our Cedar Rapids Iowa Skyline Concrete wallpaper brings together urban architecture and expressive ink splatters across a textured, stone-toned backdrop. Created by Michael Tompsett, this graphic design presents the distinctive skyline of Cedar Rapids in deep charcoal gray, where sharp architectural silhouettes dissolve into dynamic watercolor-like drips and ink marks below. Set against a weathered concrete-look background in warm neutral gray, the motif offers a balance between structured city geometry and organic, painterly movement. Our mural wallpapers are made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

In a dedicated study or home office, we see this skyline mural working particularly well as an accent wall behind a desk or open shelving. The composition places the main architectural detail across the lower and middle ground, leaving the upper portion open and quiet, which keeps the room feeling spacious and uncluttered. Because the pattern relies on a strong horizontal line across the horizon, we recommend giving it a wider, uninterrupted wall where the full breadth of the city silhouette can unfold naturally. The high contrast between the deep charcoal ink and the pale concrete backdrop also gives the design enough presence to anchor a room without overwhelming surrounding furnishings.

Styling it

To complement the graphic character of the artwork, we would keep the surrounding decor clean, modern, and intentional. Sleek furniture with minimalist profiles lets the skyline remain the clear visual focal point. For material accents, matte black metal elements echo the bold charcoal silhouette, while natural warm woods or neutral upholstery soften the urban aesthetic. Restrained accessories and uncluttered surfaces allow the expressive ink splatters and architectural contours room to breathe.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper is built around deep charcoal gray, muted ash, and a neutral, warm concrete-gray background. When painting adjacent walls, soft off-whites, warm pale grays, or light beige tones create a seamless, cohesive transition. For a bolder, more enveloping environment, picking up the dark charcoal from the skyline across accent woodwork or cabinetry creates an intentional and grounded contrast.
