Wallpaper - Life on the Farm Peas

Created by Kathleen Parr McKenna, this botanical design centers on a hanging bunch of fresh green pea pods suspended from delicate curling tendrils. Rendered with a watercolor-inspired appearance, the translucent washes of crisp green, mossy undertones, and soft earthy shades create a clean, natural presence against an open pale background. We especially like the organic clarity of the illustration, which offers a fresh kitchen garden feel without overwhelming a space. Printed made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, this wallpaper is easy to hang and brings a charming, nature-inspired accent to the home.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in spaces connected to food and daily rituals, such as a bright kitchen, a dining room, or a pantry. Because the motif is arranged with generous negative space around the botanical study, it suits both smaller nook areas and larger uninterrupted accent walls. In an open-plan kitchen or breakfast area, placing this wallpaper on a feature wall brings visual warmth without competing with surrounding cabinetry. It can also add a delightful, fresh note to a laundry room, entryway, or powder room where you want a clean and grounded botanical element.

Styling it

The light botanical character pairs naturally with cottage, farmhouse, and classic country aesthetics, as well as clean Scandinavian spaces. We would keep the surrounding interior simple and grounded, using natural materials that echo the organic theme:

• Pair with warm wooden dining furniture, open timber shelving, or painted cabinetry in soft off-white and pale cream tones.
• Incorporate simple textured textiles such as unbleached linen tea towels, cotton cushions, or a flat-woven runner.
• Introduce understated ceramic tableware, terracotta accents, or woven baskets to complement the earthy garden feel.

Colour combinations

The illustration itself features a nuanced palette of pea green, olive, soft leaf tones, and delicate earthy greens set against a pale, warm white background. To build a cohesive room around this design, we suggest drawing from those soft, natural colors. Surrounding walls and painted woodwork work beautifully in warm white, light stone, or gentle beige to maintain a bright and airy atmosphere. If you prefer deeper contrast, muted olive, sage green, or deep forest tones on adjoining cabinetry and doors will ground the room while harmonizing with the botanical hues.
