Wallpaper - Fern Forest, Salt & Pepper

Our Fern Forest, Salt & Pepper wallpaper, created by RNM Arts, brings a bold graphic rhythm to botanical foliage. The design pairs sweeping, undulating stems with finely textured fern fronds and delicate stippled dots, all rendered in a striking monochrome contrast of deep black on a crisp white background. The continuous curving branches create fluid movement across the wall while the block-print-inspired detailing adds artisanal charm. Produced to your exact dimensions, this PVC-free wallpaper features a subtle paper texture that gives the bold illustrative pattern a tactile, refined surface.

In the room

The high-contrast monochrome palette and energetic line work make this pattern particularly effective where you want an accent wall to set a confident visual tone. In a living room or dining area, we like placing it behind low-profile seating or a sideboard where the sweeping horizontal curves and branching fronds remain largely visible across the surface. Because the botanical repeat flows naturally in multiple directions, it also works remarkably well in narrow transition spaces such as hallways, entryways, or staircases, guiding the eye along the movement of the curving stems. For bedrooms, installing it behind the headboard creates an eye-catching focal backdrop without overwhelming the entire space.

Styling it

When decorating around such a graphic black-and-white motif, balance is key. We suggest pairing this wallpaper with furniture featuring clean, minimal silhouettes and warm, natural materials to soften the crisp monochrome contrast.

Light to medium wood finishes, such as natural ash, oak, or warm birch, bring an inviting organic balance that complements the botanical subject matter. Upholstered pieces in soft textured neutrals, like off-white bouclé, charcoal wool, or oatmeal linen, sit comfortably against the pattern without competing with the detailed linework. Matte black metal lighting fixtures or subtle architectural accents can echo the deep black lines of the motif, pulling the whole room together with a cohesive, contemporary feel.

Colour combinations

The pattern relies entirely on a classic duo of rich black and clean white. This clean foundation makes it effortless to integrate into a wide variety of existing interior palettes.

To keep the room feeling airy and modern, paint adjacent walls in soft off-whites, alabaster, or light stone greys that mirror the background tone. If you prefer a moodier, more dramatic ambiance, framing the wallpapered wall with charcoal, soft graphite, or deep slate painted trim will enhance the depth of the black linework. For subtle color accents in surrounding accessories, earthy terracotta, muted olive green, or ochre provide a warm, grounded counterpoint to the monochrome scheme.
