Wallpaper - Ithaca New York Skyline Black & White

Our Ithaca New York Skyline Black & White wallpaper by Michael Tompsett translates the distinctive architecture of Ithaca into a bold, graphic silhouette against a clean white backdrop. We particularly like the balance between the precise architectural outlines and the expressive, watercolor-style paint splatters running along the lower baseline. The monochrome palette of pure black and white gives the skyline an artistic, contemporary character that makes an immediate visual statement. Made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design is straightforward to hang and brings a tailored urban touch to your interior.

In the room

Because of the strong horizontal composition and the striking contrast between the black cityscape and the open white space above, we see this working exceptionally well as a feature wall in a living room, study, or home office. Placing the design along a wider uninterrupted wall allows the full architectural progression to unfold naturally without feeling crowded.

In a bedroom or teenage room, the skyline creates an eye-catching focal point behind a bed or desk. The generous white area in the upper half of the motif prevents the mural from overwhelming compact spaces, maintaining an airy atmosphere while the detailed silhouette anchors the room below eye level.

Styling it

We would keep the surrounding interior relatively clean and uncluttered to let the graphic quality of the wallpaper take center stage.

• Pair with contemporary furniture in clean-lined matte black or muted charcoal to echo the deep tones of the skyline.
• Incorporate warm wood surfaces, such as natural walnut or ash, to introduce organic warmth against the high-contrast monochrome design.
• Use soft, textured fabrics like simple linen or ribbed wool in neutral off-white and heather grey to soften the graphic edges.

Color combinations

The design itself is composed purely of deep ink black and crisp white, creating maximum visual contrast. When decorating around it, you can take several complementary directions depending on the mood you want to create.

For a sleek, modern monochrome scheme, surround the wall with warm off-whites, pale stone greys, and deep graphite accents. If you prefer to introduce color into the space, the neutral black-and-white base works effortlessly alongside muted accent shades such as olive green, dusty terracotta, or navy blue on adjacent walls, upholstery, or curtains.
