Wallpaper - Metropolis

Our Metropolis wallpaper captures the bold architectural spirit of the 1930s with a striking Art Deco aesthetic. Monumental skyscraper forms rise in deep teal and blue-green tones, framed by sweeping geometric arches and stylized foliage in warm orange, ochre, and soft cream. The composition combines clean architectural lines with the visual texture of a painted collage, creating a graphic focal point with remarkable depth. Produced as a made-to-measure mural, this PVC-free wallpaper brings a confident retro atmosphere into modern interior spaces while maintaining a balanced visual rhythm.

In the room

Because of its strong vertical composition and central architectural focal point, we see this design working especially well on a wide, uninterrupted wall in a living room. Placing our wall murals behind a low sofa or along a main dining wall gives the full height of the skyscrapers and surrounding fan motifs room to unfold without being broken up by tall furniture. In rooms with higher ceilings, the upward thrust of the buildings naturally accentuates the vertical proportion of the space. The rich contrast between deep teal silhouettes and radiant orange backdrops creates a dynamic presence in natural daylight, while warmer evening lighting brings out the depth of the darker tones.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this design with furniture that respects its strong graphic character. Mid-century modern or contemporary pieces with clean silhouettes, low profiles, and curved details complement the Art Deco geometry without competing for attention. Darker wood tones such as walnut or stained ash ground the composition, while subtle accents in aged brass or matte black echo the architectural linework. To let the mural wallpapers remain the undisputed visual centerpiece, keep surrounding textiles relatively calm with solid weaves in natural linen, wool, or velvet.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper features a sophisticated palette built around deep teal, slate blue, warm orange, amber, and pale cream. For adjacent painted walls and woodwork, a muted warm cream or soft sand creates a harmonious transition that lets the orange tones glow. If you prefer a moodier, enveloping scheme, picking up the dark teal or charcoal blue from the skyscraper facades on nearby trim or built-in cabinetry will create an immersive and grounded interior.
