Wallpaper - USA Modern Vintage Blue

Designed by Michael Mullan, this map wallpaper presents the United States in a screenprint-inspired style with a weathered, vintage visual character. Individual states are filled with denim blue tones, deep red, muted beige, and subtle grid patterns, all set against an antiqued parchment-colored background. Classic typography, state labels, city names, and a traditional compass rose give the composition a nostalgic Americana feel. Made-to-measure to fit your wall, our wallpaper is PVC-free and printed on paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because this design presents a complete horizontal map of the country, it works best on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full outline and state lettering remain easily readable. We see this wallpaper working especially well in a home study or a dedicated reading library, where the cartographic details can be viewed up close.

The lighter beige ground keeps the overall wall feeling open, while the darker denim blues and red accents draw the eye to the central geography. To appreciate the finer city labels and vintage typography, we would position this on a wall behind a desk or low shelving rather than behind tall, obstructing furniture.

Styling it

The Americana style and graphic screenprint aesthetic pair naturally with warm, grounded interior elements.

• Complement the vintage paper tone with warm wood furniture, such as medium-toned walnut, warm oak, or vintage-finished pieces.
• Pair the denim and navy accents with rich leather seating or textured wool upholstery to emphasize the traditional study aesthetic.
• Keep surrounding decorative wall art to a minimum so the map functions as the primary visual feature in the room.

Color combinations

The wallpaper is built on an earthy palette of aged beige and off-white, contrasted by denim blues, navy, deep rust red, and warm tan.

For adjacent walls, we suggest continuing the warm neutral background with creamy off-whites, soft linen tones, or light stone. If you prefer a bolder, more enveloping environment in a study or library, drawing out the deeper denim or navy tones for trim, built-in bookcases, or painted wainscoting creates a handsome, cohesive backdrop.
