Wallpaper - Wandering Whales, Pastel

Designed by Carrie Cantwell, our Wandering Whales, Pastel wallpaper brings a cheerful, graphic ocean motif into the home with gentle shapes and a soft palette. Stylized whales in muted jade green drift in an orderly, rhythmic repeat across a warm cream background, each finished with a playful pink water spout and clean striped details along the tail fins. The balanced spacing and pastel tones give the pattern a calm yet expressive presence across the wall. Like all Wallism wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

We find this repeat works especially well in children's rooms, nurseries, toddler rooms, and playrooms where its friendly character adds personality without visual clutter. The clean alignment and soft contrast allow the pattern to wrap comfortably across multiple walls in a nursery or define a dedicated play corner. Because the scale of the whales is neither oversized nor overly dense, the design also sits nicely in a family bathroom or along a hallway, where the calm rhythm can be enjoyed up close and from across the room.

Styling it

When styling around this design, we like to keep surrounding pieces relatively simple so the graphic repeat remains the focal point. Light, natural wood furniture such as birch or ash complements the warm cream base, while painted white or light grey pieces help maintain an open, airy feel.

For soft furnishings, simple woven textures in neutral tones or gentle pastel accents pick up the soft jade and pink from the pattern without competing with the illustration. Rounded shapes in furniture, such as circular rugs or curved headboards, also echo the soft curves of the whales.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper combines soft jade green and muted blush pink set against a warm, pale cream background, with slightly deeper teal linework defining the tails and eyes.

To create a cohesive scheme, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with warm off-whites, pale biscuit tones, or gentle sage and muted rose paint on adjacent walls and woodwork. If you prefer a bit more contrast, deeper sea greens or navy accents in small decorative details will draw out the illustrated linework nicely.
