Wallpaper - Food Phrases IV

Created by designer Becky Thorns, our Food Phrases IV wallpaper features bold, hand-lettered greetings—"hola", "salut", and "ciao"—stacked vertically in expressive brush-like strokes. Set in a deep navy blue against a soft off-white cream backdrop, the typography brings a playful yet graphic character to the wall. The tall lettering and generous negative space create an open, rhythmic composition that feels both relaxed and contemporary. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical texture.

In the room

We love seeing this typographic design as a lively accent in an entryway, kitchen, or dining area where its welcoming phrases set an inviting tone. Because of the strong vertical orientation and tall script, it works especially well on a feature wall or a narrower wall area, such as between doorway frames or alongside a dining table. The high visual contrast between the dark blue lettering and the pale cream background ensures the words remain distinct even from across a larger, open-plan space.

Styling it

The clean two-tone palette and brushwork typography make this design easy to balance with varied interior aesthetics, from relaxed contemporary spaces to casual mid-century or Mediterranean-inspired dining corners. We would pair it with warm natural wood furniture, such as a dining table or console, to complement the softness of the cream ground. Keeping adjacent wall decor minimal allows the large-scale lettering to remain the clear visual focal point of the room.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on two classic tones: a deep, inky navy blue and an earthy, pale off-white cream background. To build around it, you can easily pull the dark navy into surrounding painted woodwork, dining chairs, or nearby cabinetry for a grounded, cohesive look. Warmer neutral wall shades such as linen, soft beige, or warm stone work effortlessly on adjacent walls, while small accents of terracotta, muted mustard, or olive green can bring an extra layer of warmth into the space.
