Wallpaper - Up or Across

Our Up or Across wallpaper builds an intriguing sense of depth through a diagonal arrangement of three-dimensional rectangular forms. Gradients shifting from crisp white and light blue down into deep cobalt float against a dark background, creating an optical illusion with strong graphic movement. What we particularly like about this geometric design is how the clean lines and pixel-inspired shading bring a bold, postmodern character to a wall without feeling chaotic. Like all Wallism wallpapers, our mural wallpapers are made-to-measure according to your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because the diagonal repeat carries such strong visual rhythm and high contrast, we see this working exceptionally well as a focused accent wall. In a living room, placing our wallpaper behind a low sofa gives the floating geometric blocks room to unfold across the wall without competing with tall furniture.

In a home office or study, the structured repeat brings a thoughtful, graphic backdrop that creates a sharp focal point during the day. The darker background anchors the wall nicely, while the lighter blue and white highlights keep the overall composition energetic rather than heavy.

Styling it

To let the optical dimension of the pattern take center stage, we suggest keeping surrounding furnishings relatively clean-lined and quiet. Modern furniture with understated silhouettes, such as low-profile lounge seating or a minimalist desk, works naturally alongside the precise geometry.

For surrounding accents, matte black metal or cool brushed steel echoes the sharp angles and dark background of the design. Pairing these with neutral, unpatterned upholstery in charcoal, slate, or off-white ensures the room feels balanced while the wall provides all the necessary visual interest.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a high-contrast palette of dark background tones, rich cobalt, soft sky blue, and bright white highlights. When working around our wallpaper, we suggest pairing adjacent painted walls with a clean off-white or a soft, cool grey to let the blues stand out clearly.

If you prefer a deeper, more enveloping room scheme, bringing a dark charcoal or an ink-toned navy onto adjoining walls or window trim ties directly into the base of the design. For small accent pieces or decorative objects, subtle touches of electric blue or cool silver can pick up the lighter elements within the geometric gradients.
