Wallpaper - Summer in the City

Our Summer in the City wallpaper by Danhui Nai brings together warm abstract forms and a breezy, modernist character. Painted in soft beige, sunny yellow, and neutral tones, the composition combines fluid oil-paint brushwork with graphic, screenprint-inspired shapes that carry a subtle sixties influence. The gentle contrast and balanced scale give the motif an uplifting visual rhythm without overwhelming the room. Printed made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, this design is simple to hang and creates an inviting focal point in any interior.

In the room

We see this wallpaper working especially well in a bright living room or a welcoming dining room where the broad abstract forms have space to breathe across a larger uninterrupted wall. Because the palette is grounded in warm neutrals and muted yellows, it adds energy without dominating the visual environment. In a bedroom, placing the motif behind the headboard establishes a soft, sunny backdrop that remains calm. It is equally suited to a home office, library, or entryway, where the modernist shapes bring creative character to smaller or transitional spaces.

Styling it

The balanced, retro-inspired aesthetic pairs naturally with contemporary, organic modern, and mid-century interiors. We recommend combining the wallpaper with warm wood furniture, such as teak or light oak, which echoes the honeyed undertones in the print. Keep larger upholstery in clean, neutral fabrics like cream or unbleached linen to let the artwork stand out. For accents, simple matte ceramic decor or low-profile black metal light fixtures help anchor the abstract shapes while maintaining a clean, considered look.

Colour combinations

The palette within our design centers on creamy beige, sunny yellow, and gentle neutral tones. To build a cohesive room around it, we suggest pairing the wallpaper with warm off-white or soft oatmeal paint on adjacent walls. Muted mustard or ochre accents in cushions and throws can pick up the richer yellow notes in the motif, while soft sandy greys or pale stone finishes provide a tranquil, grounding balance for surrounding woodwork and cabinetry.
