Wallpaper - The Library

Our The Library wallpaper captures the timeless character of rows of antique, leather-bound books resting on dark wooden shelves. The photographic motif highlights individual worn spines in rich walnut and earthy brown tones, alongside subtle touches of muted red and deep blue with aged decorative detailing and gold-colored lettering. The varying heights and widths of the volumes create a collected, natural rhythm that brings architectural depth to the wall. Produced as a made-to-measure, PVC-free wallpaper with a subtle physical structure in the paper, this design offers an inviting, historic look that is straightforward to hang.

In the room

For us, this design works especially well in a home office, study, or dedicated reading room where you want to create an enveloping, contemplative backdrop. Because the bookshelf repeat is rich in visual detail, we like placing it along an uninterrupted accent wall behind a desk or across a wider wall behind a deep armchair. In smaller study rooms, using it across an entire alcove or on a primary focal wall gives the space the grounded, intimate atmosphere of a private historic library without overwhelming the room.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we recommend balancing the detailed pattern of the book spines with quieter, classic furnishings:

• Choose traditional seating in smooth leather or dark, tailored upholstery to complement the aged textures in the motif without introducing competing patterns.
• Pair the walnut tones with warm wooden furniture, such as a mahogany or dark oak desk, to visually extend the bookshelf effect across the room.
• Incorporate muted brass or antique bronze desk lighting and hardware to echo the warm, gold-toned details seen along the book spines.

Colour combinations

The design is anchored by deep walnut and earthy brown shades, accented by weathered burgundy reds, faded blues, and warm gold highlights. To build a cohesive palette around our wallpaper, we suggest pairing it with rich paint colors such as deep forest green, warm taupe, or dark espresso on adjacent trim and doors. If you prefer a lighter, heritage look, a muted warm cream or soft stone grey provides a clean contrast that lets the depth of the dark wooden shelves stand out.
